Christmas Dress Up Day!

On Friday, it was a non-uniform day. Everybody wore their really embarrassing Christmas jumpers! It was a really good day.

Only 14 days till Christmas!!!

Speed Dating In Castleknock

On Thursday, we went Spanish speed dating in Castleknock. I was really nervous but it was actually really good. The school was really posh! When we were finished speed dating, the school gave us crisps, chocolate and sprite. It was a great day :)

Holly Day

On Wednesday, our year went to Dublin to sell holly badges for the ISPCC. My friend Linda and I went to Duke Street. We were there for hours but it was really good. We got free tea from the bar we were selling outside and free noodles from one of the restaurant and they were so nice. People were really generous (except for one guy who just walked up and took one of the badges without paying). When we were finished selling we went to Gino's to get ice-cream!

Glenroyal Charity Ball

On the 27th of November, there was a charity ball on in the Glenroyal hotel in Maynooth. When we arrived there was a chocolate fountain, candyfloss and lots of sweets. It was so awesome! At around ten o'clock, they got rid of the chocolate fountain and it broke my heart :( It was kinda boring after that.

Amber Day

Last Friday, the 4th of December, the TY's organised Amber Day. We did this to try and win the Amber flag which is for positive mental health awareness and suicide prevention. We didn't have any classes for the day so we waited in the library until lunchtime (and listened to lots of Justin Bieber). 

At lunchtime, there was busking in the first year mall, a bakesale in the hall and face painting in the library. I did face painting and I don't even know why cause I was so bad at it. Overall, it was a really good day!

                                               

Halloween Midterm

Since we haven't gone on any trips this month... I don't have anything to blog about so I'm going to write about my Halloween midterm. I went to Time in Naas with my friends. It was really fun but I looked even shorter then usual cause my two really tall friends decided to wear heels.

Christmas Cakes

Today in home ec we made Christmas cakes. We were supposed to make fruit cake but we made chocolate biscuit cake instead because fruit cake is gross. We made penguins for the top of the cake and they're so cute :) 

School :(

We haven't been on any trips this month. We've just had classes... and more classes.... and even more classes :(

Fun Walk

Our theme for the fun walk this year was yellow. For our dance, the class decided to dress up as sunflowers and our tutor dressed up as the sun. We had to do the dance in front of the whole school and it was so embarrassing. The other class did a dance about snapchat and they won :( After every class had done their dance, the school went on a walk around Celbridge.

Castletown

We went to Castletown house as part of our history course :)

English Trip

TY's went on an English trip to Dublin city. We were divided into groups. My group went to a World War I exhibition first. It had primary sources from the war and was about the lives of different Irish people during the war.

Then we went to the National Library to see the WB Yeats exhibition. When we were there, we saw the President of Ireland. We were allowed to have our lunch after that and my friend and I went to Gino's and bought a crepe and ice-cream!

After lunch, we went to the National museum. There was a bog body exhibition there and lots of viking stuff.

Workshops

The Wednesday before our work experience started, we had two workshops. One was about your appearance and how to present yourself and the other one was a CPR course. Our year was split into two groups. I completed the workshop on appearance first. We were told how to dress for work experience and how to do our makeup properly. They also had a catwalk that we had to walk down while balancing a book on our heads. Some people wore high heels too.

After lunch we did a CPR course. We learned how to help people in certain situations e.g. if they have epilepsy, if they're choking. The CPR workshop was really good!

Art Trip

Our second trip was an art trip to Kilkenny. We had to get the bus there at 8.15 :( When we arrived at Kilkenny, we went to the cinema to see an animated movie called Song of the Sea.

Then we went to an exhibition about the animation. One of the animators gave us a tour of the exhibition. He showed us the original sketches and explained how the movie was created. He told us there were twelve drawings for each second of the movie. The film was also nominated for an Oscar. 

After the exhibition, we had our lunch. We were allowed to go to the market where they were selling crepes! We returned to the school after lunch. 

Carlingford

Our first TY trip was to Carlingford in Co.Louth. We got the bus there and it took two hours. When we arrived, we left our bags in the hall and were divided into groups. The other group got to do water sports first and we got to do team challenges. When we got to challenge island, we were divided into three teams. We had to complete different challenges to collect gems and the team with the most gems won. In one of the challenges, we had to crawl through a pitch black maze. I got lost so my team only got two gems out of five. We completed all of our other challenges successfully and got the most gems!

We went back to the centre for lunch (chicken nuggets and chips!) and then got to do water sports. The first thing we did was peer jumping. It was fun but the water was freezing. We were divided into teams and then went kayaking. We kayaked to a trampoline in the middle of the lake. The trampoline was really good even though I fell off twice. We returned to the centre for dinner and got our rooms. I was in a room with my friends Linda, Carmen and Naoise. After dinner we ordered Chinese and I got a spice bag. It was the most disgusting spice bag I've ever had in my life.

The next day, we did zip lining. It was really fun and I did the course twice. We had lunch and then we had to go home :( I was so tired.
